Farm Infrastructure Monitoring

Drones enable rapid, safe aerial inspections of farm infrastructure like water lines, irrigation pivots, fences, and storage. A UAV can cover miles of fence or dozens of pivots in minutes, spotting leaks, or damage far faster than ground crews. The DJI Mavic 3 Enterprise Multispectral is ideal for this: it carries a 20MP RGB camera plus four 5MP multispectral sensors (green, red, red-edge, NIR), so it collects high-resolution colour and infrared data in a single flight. With 40–43 minutes of flight per battery and built-in RTK GPS for centimetre precision, the drone maps fields, and assets very accurately. Farmers then review the images and NDVI maps to detect anomalies – for example, a hidden pipeline leak makes nearby plants appear unusually green or shows as a bright wet spot in infrared – letting them fix problems early.
-
Multispectral and thermal Imaging: The Mavic 3M’s combined RGB and NIR sensors capture visible and infrared light at once. This produces NDVI/NDRE maps alongside normal photos, highlighting moisture or stress patterns in crops. For example, leaks or pooling water often show as lush (high-NDVI) patches or bright spots on the maps, thermal imaging with our Matrice 4 thermal can also be used to detect anomalies in these structures and can be used for night operations.
-
Long Flight & Precision: With about 40–43 minutes per flight, our drones can survey large farms in one mission. their integrated RTK module tags each image with cm-level accuracy, so pipelines, pivots and fences are precisely geo-mapped. Omnidirectional obstacle sensors and terrain-follow mode also help the drones fly safely low over uneven ground.
-
Irrigation & Waterlines: UAVs fly along pivots, canals, and pipes to inspect irrigation equipment. Aerial imagery highlights dry or over-watered areas – studies show drones quickly spot leaks or blockages before they stress crops. Farmers can then pinpoint and repair the exact problem location without lengthy ground searches.
-
Fences & Perimeter: Drones can automate regular fence patrols, capturing detailed images of fence lines. By reviewing this footage, operators find broken posts or gaps that could let livestock escape. In practice, early detection of weak spots or breaks (as reported in ranch case studies) has significantly improved perimeter security.
-
Storage & Buildings: Overhead scans of barns, silos and sheds reveal structural issues like roof leaks or missing panels. After storms or over time, a drone can quickly identify damaged roof sections or broken water lines. (Optional thermal payloads can also scan large hay or grain stacks: abnormal heat spots indicate moisture or spoilage.) Regular drone checks of storage facilities prevent small problems from becoming big losses.
Each of these capabilities—high-resolution multispectral imaging, thermal imaging, long endurance and GPS precision, plus flexible payloads—makes drone monitoring of farm infrastructure fast, safe, and highly effective for early fault detection.
